Blog Assignment 8- Death of Usama bin Laden

Blog Assignment 7- The Outcome of the Civil War

This blog assignment is purely an opinion question but I want you to take some time to really think about it before you answer. Today in class we began discussing the battles and events of the Civil War. We learned about how at the Battle of Antietam Robert E. Lee's plans were discovered which kept him from taking Washington D.C. and ending the war. This is just one example in the many turn of events that could have changed the outcome of the Civil War. In at least 5 sentences I want you to tell me how our country's history might have been different if the South had won the Civil War. Think about what happened as a result of the war: the end of slavery and Lincoln's assassination are just two things to consider. So put some thought into your answer. Don't forget to put your name and class period at the end of your post.

Blog Assignment 6- Native American Treatment and Removal in the 1800s

Over the past unit we have studied and discussed how the United States moved from being a country of 13 states along the Atlantic Coast to a vast area reaching all the way to the Pacific Ocean. We looked at the explorers that traveled the new vast land and finally today we talked about the settlers and pioneers that risked everything to move West. Unfortunately the expansion and settlement was was not positive for everyone. The Native Americans were often moved from their land onto reservations in areas like Oklahoma. Those who resisted were forced by the military and many many died from disease. Read pages 368-369 in your book. It gives an example of this when in 1830 President Andrew Jackson signed the Indian Removal Act to make the Cherokee Tribe leave Florida.  For this blog assignment you need to write at least six sentences summing up what happened to the Cherokee on the pages you read, write how it makes you feel, and then tell me how things could have been done differently.

Blog Assignment 5- The Gulf Oil Spill

Friday we watched a video over the Gulf Oil Spill tragedy that happened last year. In at least 5 sentences tell me what was the Deepwater Horizon, what happened to it, why was the spill so hard to contain, is there anyone to blame for it, and how has the spill affected America? Blog Assignment 4- Protests In Egypt

Recently we discussed the current events going in Egypt and why they are occurring. In at least 5 sentences explain to me what is happening to Egypt, how would you compare and contrast(how is it alike and how is it different) it to the American Revolution, and give me your opinion on if the U.S. should get involved or not. Remember this: we discussed how President Muburak has been an American ally for 31 years but also has taken away many rights of the Egyptian people. Blog Assignment 3- Illegal Immigration

Today in class we discussed the issue of illegal immigration. Illegal immigration is a very opinionated subject in America and has been at the center of many political debates. Your blog assignment is to post at least seven sentences saying what an illegal immigrant is, why illegal immigration is a problem, who you think is to blame for it, what is being done to stop it, and should the U.S. continue to put money into preventing immigration(why?) or could there be another solution (if so what?). Blog Assignment 2- Foreign Aid: Yes or No

Today in class we discussed the topic question should the U.S. continue to give foreign aid during the recession? Remember the key terms I underlined in that question. Foreign aid is any money, medicine, or supplies given to other countries. This could be for a disaster, war, disease or development. The other term was recession. A recession is a time where the economy is not doing as well as it should. The unemployement rate is higher and the market is bad. The United States is currently in a state or recession. So after studying these terms and the topic write a 3-5 sentence statement telling me if you believe the U.S. should continue to give foreign aid during the recession and tell me why you believe that.(put your name at the end of the comment) Don't forget the stats and figures I gave you today.
